The majority of our employees and their dependents in the plantations and mills are housed in self-contained communities built by the Group. The employees and their dependents are provided with free housing, clean water and electricity. Water treatment plants were built and maintained in some estates to ensure continuous supply of clean water for drinking. In remote and isolated locations where piped water is not available, tube wells were drilled to provide clean drinking water. Electricity is mainly provided by either the government grid, our biogas plant, or diesel-run generator engines.
